| After various experiences with Welsh bands, Brychan started his solo
carreer in 1988 with the acoustic "Veleno Rumoroso" (recorded
in his bathroom!) that brought his skills to the ears of a wider audience
and media. The Italian title (which means "noisy poison") was
an hommage to the country that showed the biggest appreciations for Brychan's
previous musical outings. The album is extremely well received in Italy, and in UK too with Brychan playing at the Welsh acoustic festival called "Snowdonation" along with Stereophonics, The Levellers and Mike Peters. An Italian summer festival Tour confirm the strength of his acoustic shows even in oper air arenas and in front of very big audiences. For the first time there are dates in the deep south of Italy: Calabria, very close to Sicily. In those unique settings Brychan ends the tour jamming on stage with one of Italy's most popular bands: II Parto delle Nuvole Pesanti, starting an interesting collaboration. Towards the end of 1999 the second album "Vexed Fanatica" is released: 14 songs, mostly acoustic but musically richer than Veleno rumoroso. Hailed by exceltent reviews the new recording is supported by a big tour: 40 gigs in one year where Brychan meets again with Mimmo Mellace, drummer-percussionist of Il Parto Delle Nuvole Pesanti and now a permanent member of Brychans band. Every venue is packed and the tour is championed by the Italian press as one of the best of the year. Brychan decides to release a record just for the Italian market: half of it recorded live in Italy with Mimmo Mellace, half in the studio (in Italy) with Welsh musicians. The album is titled Bad Pink Vibe, released in March 2001, and takes Brychans Italian popularity even further. With 2 videos on heavy rotation on the main Italian music televisions, Brychan's start his biggest tour ever with a 4-piece band.. The music is now an unique blend of rock, funk, folk and jazz that is sometimes compared to the likes of Ani Di Franco and Jeff Buckley. One of the most remarkable moments of the year is when Brychan play to 2000 people in the beautiful Verona square and is joined on stage by US guitarist Randy Bernsen (Jaco Pastorius, Joe Zawinul, Herbie Hancock). 2002 was spent writing the new album and collaborating with Italian instrumental post-rock band Votiva Lux: Brychan recorded vocals for the opening track "Ffair". Out of the song a video and a single were released receiving national airplay and amazing press feedback. The new album titled "Real in Between" was recorded over 3 months with various guest musicians and the Italian release is expected for late October 2003. "Real in between" is a breathtaking record and features Brychan's best compositions and a sound which mixes organic/electronic instruments, horns and strings.
