Sion Orgon Born May 19, 1975 in Pontypridd, Wales as Shaun James Davies to a family of teachers and boxers. He was frequently taken to Rock concerts by his father from an early age, which lead to him studying the art of drumming, guitar and vocals. He was a member of the Pencoed Comprehensive school Orchestra but was shown the door after one season of performing Grease the musical. "The teachers thought I was too progressive as an Orchestral drummer, and thought it was best that I didn't take part in the future." It was the local street bum (tramp) .Terry Tablets. who exposed him to proper music, the first 2 albums he purchased as a boy was The Beatles, Rubber Soul and Brian Eno, Evening star. "I've always been a massive fan of melodic rock music, but then I also love the weirdness and ambience of electronic music or anything that dosen't conform to the standard laws of conventional music, I suppose that.s why RGS suits me as a group because we do a lot of the both, sometimes combined, and the same goes for both sides of my solo projects." He has worked as a session drummer for many acts around the South Wales scene as well as a recording engineer, producer and also spent 3 years working for a local business producing fake plastic turds. As a member of Space Rock band POD he met Frank Static and Gaz Goldstar at a Hells Angels weekend festival where both bands were on the same bill. They got along very well, all being weird music fans so the guys from the Goldstar asked him to join the group. "I was really overjoyed when the guys asked me to join the group, I had seen them playing around the same venues as POD and I remember being really impressed and I could hear that they were thinking on the same wave lengths as me (where music was concerned). We did a little project together about 2 years before I was in RGS, it was called Banana Boy and it put the 3 of us together. Since then I have made the coolest and strangest music with RGS, its so good that it really pisses me off that we've never got a major deal, but then I think why would we want to give this to the corporate world. I mean most of the groups and songwriters that we like have been like little secrets, all these albums that only certain people know about (which I cannot mention, because if you know you know) have given us all a greater insight in to different ways that we write our music." In 1999, RGS met Thighpaulsandra (who plays keys for Spiritulized and Coil, and Julian Cope) through doing a BBC Sessions in Wales radio session, Thighp was the producer and soon to become a great friend of RGS, helping to fatten out the RGS album Soft Eject and start the recording of the 2nd triple album. So Orgon met Thighps and Orgon became part of Thighpaulsanda's avant- guard outfit, playing drums and becoming the official voice of Thighpaulsandra. "So far I been on 3 of Thighps releases (I Tighpaulsandra, Michelle Publicity Window EP and his new album Double Vulgar). I really enjoy working with Thighp because he's so well respected and he's another amazing musician with a different slant on things, he's also a brilliant producer which is good because it means I can get him to produce most of my solo stuff which some of will sell because it has his name on it." Orgon's two debut albums are both due out this year, two totally different kinds of music to be released on two different labels. "Yeah there's two sides to the Orgon coin, my song based album which has loads of songs and sweet progressive ballad type thing's which is to be released by Dockrad Records, and then there is my avantgard album, which is full of the weirdest natural sounding objects mixed in with electronica and song to give you this kind of ambient elecro punk effect. I'm hoping it's going to be released on Coils label Escaton later this year. So I bounce between the two things writing songs and making weird sounds, it keeps me on this quest of trying to do something different and it's a good excuse to have a recording studio and make lots of noise." Details of Orgon album release dates follow shortly, "as soon as I bloody know I will tell you." Meanwhile keep your eyes open for a single release (of the weird shit) on Experimentalseafoodrecords
